Heidelberg
Coffee Table
Heidelberg in South Germany was my home for a year. WE lived in old town in walking distance of Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holly Spirit), Hotel Zum Ritter, Schloss (the Castle) and Alte Brucke (an Arch Bridge over the Neckar River). It is the most enchanted old town that my family fell in love immediately and enjoyed living. When I found Heidelberg Cityscape Relief in an antique store in Indiana, I immediately had the vision of building a coffee table around it. It took several designs and prototype alterations before I found the best way to feature its central piece.
Side Table
This table combines the natural beauty of walnut wood with functional design and elegance. Its utility is unlimited, it is built to serve as a side table, or a small table for the Master Bath to hold folded towels, or an occasional seating or a sturdy step stool.
Ceramic Top Coffee Table
Years ago I embraced ceramic art and created a wide variety of objects from plates and walls capes to vases and tiles. This piece was made in 2015, but only now with my venture into woodworking it became a coffee table.
Handmade top finished with hand glazing, the table has a diameter of 20-21 in. The base was made of soft ambrosia maple and consists of eight symmetrical support structures and a shelf. This small side table is 12 in tall.
Great Lake Boards
Wood is a precious material that comes with its own story. I help to visualize such stories for every lumber board I work with. However, in some projects the waste is inevitable and beautiful pieces of living material are being discarded. My philosophy of sustainability led me to utilize remaining materials to make small art objects that could be used for decorations, cheese or sushi serving platters or hot plates.
